TO ALL MY ETHICAL PEOPLE...

GREETINGS!

Today's blog response is simple...after watching and discussing the movie, Freedom Writers, think about what YOU, as an individual, are willing to sacrifice for the sake of implementing change. I am not talking about changing the world or eliminating famine or winning a Pulitzer Prize. Think in terms of simple things that has to do with you, your family, your circle of friends, and even people you do not get along with. Do you think you are capable of going the extra mile for the sake of improving things around you?

Respond to this blog through my mravua@yahoo.com e-mail and please write your response directly, do not send it as an attachment. Thank you and be safe. CIAO!!!

TO ALL MY ETHICAL PEEPS...

SORRY FOR THE DELAY OF THIS, AGAIN...! I was just down the whole day yesterday and today as well that I only remembered this now. Anyways, since it's my bad, it won't be a lot. It's just going to be a journal entry...that's it!...on an A4/F12/DS/TNR...no less than one whole page but no more than one and a half page long...!

"After an entire quarter of being in the class, what are your insights regarding the whole discussion sessions and debate-discussions and lecture sessions we have been having? Has the course been beneficial to you so far in one way or another? If so, how? If not, then why do you think so? Is it somehow allowing you to slowly see yourself, the real YOU?! Are you okay with how we work on things in class or do you have any suggestions on how you intend to proceed with it? Please be as honest as possible since we have an entire three more quarters to deal with and I intend it to be as fruitful and meaningful to you as well as to me...!"

That's All Folks! Have a good weekend...or whatever's left of it. Take care and be safe always...CIAO!!!

TO MY ETHICAL PEEPS...

I must say, you had some good responses to our issue with Megan and Juan...impressive! Your comments and writings had more "depth" so to speak and it is obvious that there was more thought put in it. Good Work!
Before I continue.....all responses to this blog should be sent through my mravua@yahoo.com e-mail...!

Again...I need your "personal insight" on the situation and issue that was presented through that story. What is your general comment or notion regarding the situation? Why does it feel like the entire situation was generally wrong and yet those who were ostracizing Megan for it thought it was not? Is this issue a matter of culture? How come the parents of the other students would have been opposed to it as well? Is that even logical? (I have taken the liberty of posting the story below for your reference!)

Next...I need a "critical" rating status from you on how your members performed during your discussion. Please, as much as possible, do not be brief with this ...especially if you have previously worked with certain individuals in your group before our session today. First...give them a rating between 1 to 5...1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest...then justify your decision. Whole numbers only! (no 1/2 or 3.5 or 4 2/3...etc!)

Lastly...I would like you to rate yourself as well...between 1 to 5...and justify your own evaluation of your performance. Whole numbers only!

That's it! All posts are due to be in no later than Sunday, 07 October 2007, 12:00 noon. Don't forget...we're discussing our BURMA issue next meeting so be prepared. Yes...you may bring articles and/or notes to support your claim and opinion regarding the whole incident. Take care all of you and be safe...have a great weekend, everyone! CIAO!!!

Megan's Story

Megan, the president of Student Council, decided to invite Juan to the Prom. She had known him since he had arrived at school from Mexico in their freshman year. He was quiet and rather shy because his English wasn’t so advanced as the English of the cousins with whom he lived. Megan found out his parents were in the United States illegally and worked at menial jobs in the community in order to support the family.

Even though Juan was shy, Megan thought he had an endearing personality. He was kind and thoughtful. He often helped her with Student Council volunteer projects even though he himself was not a member of the group. Upon occasion, he would present Megan with a flower for no apparent reason at all.

When Megan announced to her friends that she was thinking of inviting Juan to the Prom, the reaction was disturbing. Her friends wanted to know why she would do that there were so many other great guys in their class. They said their dates probably wouldn’t want to share a limo with Megan and Juan or go to dinner with them before the Prom. They told her she should do what she wanted, but they knew Megan’s best friends’ parents wouldn’t be very interested in having Juan come to the after-Prom party at their home. They also said they didn’t see how she could expect to bring him to the picnic the next day. Some of them even started gossiping about Megan behind her back.

TO MY ETHICAL PEEPS...

I am so sorry I was not able to make it today...I am down with Gastro-Intestinal Flu...bummer!...not to mention, it hurts like crap! I sure hope everything went well in class and you guys were able to complete the tasks I assigned. I actually just woke up from my "slumber" to grab something to eat and take my medications...so I thought of doing this before going back to bed...!

As always, respond to the following please...simple as that! You have until Sunday, 30 September 2007, 11:59PM, to post your blog.

Take care all of you and see you next week...I hope! I will be off to Bumrungrad Hospital tomorrow for a blood check...those of you who are meeting your contact orgs over the weekend...make sure you have your proposals and suggestions with you to present to them. Do not meet with them empty handed! Be good and stay safe...CIAO!!!

"Categorize the following characteristics/virtues from 1-10 based on its importance to your life at the moment. Number 1 being your first priority and 10 your least. Then simply explain why you arranged it in such a way and what method did you use in deciding your choices, what factors affected your decision, etc.? Make sure to analyze your response well and do not do this for convenience sake...if you know what I mean...!"

GREETINGS ETHICAL PEOPLE OF MY CLASS...

It's that time of the week again when I will be troubling you with your insights on our short discussion debate on the issue pertaining to "The School's Responsibility". After having the session, do you still strongly support what you defended earlier or have your views changed? Do you see and understand the point the other group was trying to deliver or do you still strongly believe your side? Think about our many discussions and the topics we have taken up in class since we started and try to relate it with those for reference purposes.

However, I do not want you to post your response on this blog but rather require you to post it directly to my mravua@yahoo.com e-mail...for safety purposes. If I feel your individual writing has depth and a good clear argument, then I will be posting it on EDLINE for everyone to see, of course, without any names included. If your post gets published, then you automatically get a perfect score and would no longer need to defend your claim in class (one on one!) with me. You have to recall the discussion very well and you have to have "conviction" in stating your stand.

Of course...as always...it's not going to be that easy. There's always a catch! You should have between 3-5 paragraphs only, since I do not intend to read sixteen "novels" over the weekend, and none of your paragraphs should go beyond 12 sentences. Difficult?! Not really...if you plan and draft what you intend to write first and how you intend to present your claim.

That's All Folks! Have a GReight weekend and be safe all of you. Be good and study well...we might have a QUIZ next meeting...HINT! HINT! God Bless...CIAO!!!

ETHICAL PEOPLE of my class...

First of all, I would like to apologize for having you wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...! To cut the long story short, I have ALL your online test questions on my thumb drive which got busted yesterday afternoon in school. I was at Panthip Plaza most of the day today trying to find a decent person who would be able to retrieve all my files (grades, lesson plans until the end of the semester, tests, mapping, curriculum, etc.) from that busted thumb drive so i can transfer it to a new thumb drive....but to no avail. I JUST CANNOT BELIEVE IT!

I would like to inform you now that instead of the online test which I had told you I was scheduled to give you, I am just going to have to give you the test on the movie we watched on Monday morning, 03 September 2007. Please prepare well for it...!

I hope you all do understand...! As you can see, I have my entire school life in that thumb drive and now I have to start my five months work all over again from scratch. I am really sorry about this. Thank you...CIAO!!!

Mr. A
P.S. You have until Thursday, 06 September 2007, to respond to the other blog on the school's role...!

"What exactly are the duties of the school in protecting their students? Does the school's responsibility toward each and every student cease once the individual has stepped out of the campus grounds, or does it continue further than that?"

Comments...insights...arguments...on this topic...?! Think well before you write your stand...take care and be safe...CIAO!!!
